GUNNAR SIGURJONSSON PYDDI PRENTSMI ÐJAN LEIFTUR H.F. - Reykjavik This was one of the most difficult of the translations to research as the records I was able to find could not always accurately display the oddities of the Icelandic alphabet. Whenever a character was not recognize-able in the ASCII "vocabulary," a box was inserted for the missing letter - this made it quite difficult to look up specific words in the English-Icelandic dictionary! The 1970s editions from this publisher (see image to the left) are hardback books with a dust jacket and white spine. The artwork is recycled from the Danish editions.  The later editions all have the same image on the cover - the Tandy artwork from "The Ghost of Blackwood Hall." George's name is Georgía and Hannah goes by Hanna in these translations.  The following promotional blurb does not convert to English very well; it appears to say that Nancy's dad is a painter and that she is a bit shy.  I get the feeling something has gotten lost in translation.... Nancy Drew er dóttir frægs málafærslumanns. Pess vegna er hún líka hálfger ður - og ef til vill meira en hálfger ður - leynilögregkuma ður, og ntoar hæfileika sína óvanalega skynsamlega. Hún kryfur vandamálin til mergjar og henni heppnast oft a ðgrei ða fram úr sérlega spennandi og dularfullum leynilögreglumálum, sem ver ða á vegi hennar. Oparfi er a ð rekja efni hverrar sögu fyrir sig. Pær eru allar spennandi og skemmtilegar og allt af eitthva ð n´ytt a ð gerast í hverri bók. Nancy er aldrei athafnalaus og pa ð er eins og hin fur ðulegustu mál safnist a ð henni. Hinn pekkti ameríski rithöfundur, Carolyn Kenne, hefur skrifa ð allmargar bækur um Nancy Drew og leynilögreglustörf hennar og koma pær beztu út í pessum bókaflokki.

BOKAUTGAFAN SKJALDBORG HF- Reykjavik 1992-2000 Nancy Spennubækur These large picture books were available during the 1990s and mimic the Grosset & Dunlap "flashlight" editions to a certain degree (see logo below). On several of the covers, artwork from the Armada (UK) Format E books is recycled. Skjaldborg is apparently a subdivision of Sigurjónsson (as above) as that name appears on the title page.  Nine books were re-released under this subdivision - Velvet Mask is advertised in the post text pages but no copy of this title has ever turned up in this format. This logo is found on the back and spine of the Skjaldborg books; notice how it is similar to the logo used on the glossy G&D books.

TINDUR BOKAUTGAFA - Akureyi 2007 Snjalla Löggustelpan (Smart Police Girl) When the Girl Detective series was launched in the US several new foreign editions were released shortly thereafter - these Icelandic books were amongst that batch.  Unfortunatety only 2 titles were ever produced.  They used the same illustration of a startled Nancy on the covers, changing only the color of the background.
